The Borderline

Rockingbirds, Arlenes

Saturday 11th December 2010, 7:00 pm

The Rockingbirds’ self-titled debut album was initially released back in 1992 to critical raves.  Much-loved equally by alternative music fans, country aficionados and singer-songwriter buffs, the North London-based outfit stamped their maverick country-rock brand on the young Camden Town scene.

The Rockingbirds defiantly bucked the UK trends of the early 90s, anticipated the alt-country revolution and sat comfortably alongside like-minded contemporaries like The Jayhawks and Uncle Tupelo.

The Rockingbirds released two acclaimed albums, but effectively burned out due to an over-enthusiastic lifestyle and imploded.

The Rockingbirds play The Borderline on 11th December.

The Rockingbirds will be supported by The Arlenes.  This will be their first London gig for several years.

The Arlenes journey began 15 years ago when Stephanie and Steve first met in a North London pub. It was actually His first solo show. She thought he had issues with women. Still, she agreed to come and sing some harmony with him at his little damp North London apartment, and that is where it all began.

… with weddings, tours, recording then a hip indie label deal. BBC TV show’s and film music credits, the Rough Guide to Americana album, several celebrated albums, videos and singles…….

later…… they moved to California to be near Stephanie’s family, 20 miles from Yosemite, and then on to Nashville, TN 3 years ago.

Now with two musically inclined daughters in tow and a new album

The Arlenes – “…. About A Million, Billion, Trillion”, set for release in US/ Canada, a new Video, shot in Asheville, NC and a rockin’ hot band of dudes from the South. Watch the “OUTRAGE” trailer featuring Natasha Lyonne, Michael Madsen and Michael Berryman. The Arlenes ‘Lonely Won’t Leave Me Alone’, makes it (in a more sensitive moment) in this dynamic indie blood-fest Ace Cruz film. http://www.outragemovie.com/

The Arlenes – are English pop with country instrumentation, and they rock…….! Although a little slower now and with no heavy lifting!
